I think he has a larger role to play and if that’s a part of JLA’s plan, I am excited to see what it will be. I hope that JLA has plans to give more background on Kieran. Keiran was able to step out from behind Casteel, which added to his depth. His relationship with Keiran is one of my favorite friendships, they have such a strong bond and I love the way they support each other. He balances the responsibilities of being a prince and his relationship with Poppy very well and in this book we see more depth to him than the previous two. His desire to make sure that she always has a choice is why I love him. Throughout the series, Casteel has been a strong male lead, and in The Crown of Gilded Bones he remains the same strong male lead, who is committed to doing whatever it takes to keep Poppy happy. I didn’t feel like either aspect suffered at the expense of the other. Her ability to craft a story that is character-driven and plot-heavy made for a really great read. Once again, JLA reminds me why I love her books. It was a big test of my self-control, but I did it! The Crown of Gilded Bones is another book from JLA that I enjoyed! I should note that while the first three chapters were available early, I did not read them until I received my physical copy. The ending of A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire was a major cliff-hanger and having The Crown of Gilded Bones begin where the previous book ended, answered so many of my immediate burning questions. Picking up right where the previous one left off. I so appreciate the way that JLA starts her books in this series. They will be challenged, and through it all, Poppy and Casteel must determine how far they are willing to go to save Atlantia. If they want to stop her, Poppy and Casteel must travel to the Land of the Gods in order to wake the King. The Queen of Blood and Ash is determined to take Atlantia for her own and has been waiting to make her move.
The threat against Atlantia is growing in the west. This power she has, makes her the rightful Queen of Atlantia and Poppy must choose to accept what is rightfully hers or to walk away from it completely.
